Detailed Call Description
The following Actions will be supported:
Actions to reduce rail freight noise in accordance with Article 9(2)(b)(iii) of the CEF Regulation. The supported Actions shall address works to retrofit existing freight wagons. Union financial support shall take the form of unit contributions as defined in the Commission Decision authorising the use of unit costs for the retrofitting of noisy wagons under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – Transport (https://ec.europa.eu/transport/sites/default/files/2021-07-22-ertms-af-noise.pdf).
Financial support to third parties is not allowed.
Financing percentage by EU or other bodies / Level of Subsidy or Loan
The costs will be reimbursed at the funding rates fixed in the Grant Agreement (maximum 50% for the costs of studies, maximum 70% for the costs of works in outermost regions, maximum 30% for the other costs categories (‘project funding rate’) for proposals related to ‘multimodal passenger hubs’ and maximum 50% for the other costs categories (‘project funding rate’) for proposals related to ‘Motorways of the Sea’.

In order to be eligible, the applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must:
- be legal entities (public or private bodies)
- be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.:
- EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs)
- third countries associated to the CEF (list [none])
