MSCA Staff Exchanges 2021
Summary
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) have the goal to help build Europe’s capacity for research and innovation by investing in the long-term careers of excellent researchers. Therefore, this programme provides funding to excellent research and innovation as well as equip researchers at all stages of their career (regardless of age and nationality) with new knowledge and skills, through mobility across borders and exposure to different sectors and disciplines. Additionally, the MSCA fund the development of excellent doctoral and postdoctoral training programmes and collaborative research projects worldwide. Furthermore, it supports cooperation between industry and academia and innovative training to enhance employability and career development.

Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.

Detailed Call Description
Proposals, under the present call, are expected to contribute for staff members to increased set of research and transferable skills and competences, leading to improved employability and career prospects within and outside academia, more knowledge and innovative ideas converted into products, processes and services, more entrepreneurial mind-sets, testing new and innovative ideas, increased international exposure leading to extended networks and opportunities and enhanced networking and communication capacities with scientific peers, as well as well as with the general public that will increase and broaden the research and innovation impact.
For the participating organisations proposals, should contribute to innovative ways of cooperation and transfer of knowledge between sectors and disciplines, strengthened and broader international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral collaborative networks and boosted R&I capacity.
MSCA Staff Exchanges involve organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors (including SMEs) from across the globe. Support is provided for international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility of R&I staff leading to knowledge transfer between participating organisations. MSCA Staff Exchanges can address three dimensions of mobility: inter-sectoral, international and interdisciplinary.
Eligibility For Participation Notes
- The admissibility and eligibility conditions are described in Annex A, Annex B, and Annex E of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes. Special eligibility conditions for the present call are described under the “Specific Conditions” part of the MSCA Work Programme 2021-2022, page 92.
- Secondments between institutions established in non-associated Third Countries or within the same EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country are not eligible.
