MSCA Doctoral Networks 2022

Summary

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) have the goal to help build Europe’s capacity for research and innovation by investing in the long-term careers of excellent researchers. Therefore, this programme provides funding to excellent research and innovation as well as equip researchers at all stages of their career (regardless of age and nationality) with new knowledge and skills, through mobility across borders and exposure to different sectors and disciplines. Additionally, the MSCA fund the development of excellent doctoral and postdoctoral training programmes and collaborative research projects worldwide. Furthermore, it supports cooperation between industry and academia and innovative training to enhance employability and career development.

Programme Description

Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.

Detailed Call Description

These doctoral programmes will respond to well-identified needs in various R&I areas, expose the researchers to the academic and non-academic sectors, and offer training in research-related, as well as transferable skills and competences relevant for innovation and long-term employability (e.g. entrepreneurship, commercialisation of results, Intellectual Property Rights, communication). Proposals for doctoral networks can reflect existing or planned research partnerships among the participating organisations.

The selection procedure for doctoral candidates must be open, transparent and merit-based, in line with the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The vacancy notice (to be widely advertised internationally, including on the EURAXESS website) must include the gross salary (not including employer’s social contributions) offered to the researcher.

MSCA Doctoral Networks are encouraged to lead to Industrial or Joint Doctorates. (further details in the work programme)
