Detailed Call Description
The 2 topics that opened for the submission of proposals are the following:
- Global call according to SRIA 2023 (RIA): This topic is the RIA-part of the bottom-up programming. This call is open to the several challenges which can be found on pages 45-50 of the Chips JU Appendix 3_2004, Work Programme 2023-2027. The activities must have their centre of gravity at the TRL 3-4 at the end of the project.
- Focus topic on “Sustainable and greener manufacturing”: This focus topic concerns the development of a sustainable and greener semiconductor manufacturing through the reduction of its environmental footprint with a focus on materials. The activities must have their centre of gravity at TRL 3-5 at the end of the project.

The budget for each call is as follows:
- For Topic 1 HORIZON-JU-Chips-2024-2-RIA-T1, the estimated EU expenditure is €52.000.000. The maximum contribution per partner in a project is limited to 30% of the total EU funding for the project.
- For Topic 2 HORIZON-JU-Chips-2024-2-RIA-T2, the estimated EU expenditure is €15.000.000. The maximum contribution per partner in a project is limited to 40% of the total EU funding for the project.

The maximum EU Contribution as percentage of the eligible cost for the topic: HORIZON -JU-Chips-2024-2-RIA-T1 is:
- Large Enterprise (for profit non-SME) – 25%
- SME (for profit SME) – 35%
- University/Other (not for profit) – 35%
The maximum EU Contribution as percentage of the eligible cost for topic: HORIZON-JU-Chips-2024-2-RIA-T2 is:
- Large Enterprise (for profit non-SME) – 25%

For the partners of a Participating State that coordinates grants, specific rules may apply regarding the eligibility to national funding.
