Its goal is to consolidate the European Research area, in order to make the Union’s research and innovation system more competitive on a global scale.

Programme Description
Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.

Detailed Call Description
Applicant Principal Investigators should be able to demonstrate a promising track record of early achievements appropriate to their research field and
career stage, including up to five significant publications (in which is the main author) in major international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journals, or in the leading international peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, should have evidence in participating in conferences proceedings or monographs and translations of their respective field. They may also demonstrate a record of invited presentations in well-established international conferences or international advanced schools, granted patents, awards, prizes, academy memberships etc.
Starting Grants may be awarded up to a maximum of 1 500 000 EUR for a period of 5 years. Furthermore, it is expected that the estimated number of grants is 413.
Financing percentage by EU or other bodies / Level of Subsidy or Loan
Funding rate 100% / 25% for indirect costs.
