Summary
The Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence part of the Horizon Europe programme, contributes to building research and innovation capacity for countries lagging behind. Ιt will implement concrete measures in support of Widening participation and strengthening the ERA and is divided in two components:

- Strengthening the European Research Area

Programme Description
Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.

Detailed Call Description
The actions funded under this topic will coordinate national and regional R&I funding programmes by pooling national resources and contributing to the alignment of national research and innovation policies.
Applicants should demonstrate clear commitments from participating programmes to pool resources and ensure complementarity between activities and policies with those of the Framework Programme and relevant European Partnerships and EU missions.
Proposals should pool the necessary resources from the participating national (or regional) research programmes as well as, where appropriate, leverage resources from pertinent foundations, charities and transnational initiatives, with a view to implementing calls for proposals, either within the context of this action or in possible follow-up actions, resulting in grants to third parties without EU co-funding in this area.
The proposals should also demonstrate potential impact at national, regional and transnational level.
The actions should envisage a duration appropriate to the ambition and complexity of the proposed topic.
