Summary
PRIMA – Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area is the most ambitious joint programme to be undertaken in the frame of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
The overall objective of the PRIMA programme is to build research and innovation capacities and to develop knowledge and common innovative solutions for agro-food systems, to make them sustainable, and for integrated water provision and management in the Mediterranean area, to make those systems and that provision and management more climate resilient, efficient, cost-effective and environmentally and socially sustainable, and to contribute to solving water scarcity, food security, nutrition, health, well-being and migration problems upstream.

Detailed Call Description
This award is in alignment with the European Commission’s commitment to promoting gender equality in research and innovation as outlined in the European Commission’s Gender Equality Strategy for 2020-2025.
Two winners will be rewarded for this year’s award and will be invited by PRIMA to share their testimonies.
Specifically, PRIMA will award two winners with a recognition prize of €10.000 each. In addition, PRIMA will further promote the winners, by inviting them to provide testimony at other major events.
In addition to their scientific excellence, the proposed solutions should:
- demonstrate how their proposed solutions can contribute to broader socio-economic development goals in the Mediterranean region. This could include demonstrating the potential for job creation, economic growth, and improved social well-being;
- demonstrate that they have directly utilised or played an active role in the uptake of their proposed solutions by third parties, such as policy makers or businesses. They should provide evidence of their contribution to policy change or the implementation of their solutions by third parties;
- demonstrate the potential for replication and upscaling of their proposed solutions. They should provide a clear plan for how their solutions can be replicated and scaled up in other regions or countries, and how they can be integrated into existing food systems.
Eligibility For Participation Notes
The contest is open to all women and/or legal and/or groups of legal entities (i.e. natural or legal persons, including international organisations) led by women. The contestants for the PRIMA prizes should be at least one legal entity established in a PRIMA Participating States (PS). The demonstrated practices must be implemented in the Mediterranean Region at one of the PRIMA PS.
Prizes will not be awarded to teams including employees of PRIMA or serving on one of the PRIMA advisory committees (Scientific Advisory Committee) or Governing boards (Board of Trustees and Steering Committee). Please also be aware that participants that have already received an EU or Euratom prize cannot receive a second prize for the same activities.
Contestants will have to provide proof of eligibility and a written description of their achievements in the “PRIMA Woman Greening Food Systems Award in the Mediterranean Region” field, which will be presented to an independent panel of experts for evaluation.
